I've been going through this craze of wanting to eat healthier and to try and work with my exercise rather than against it. That might make sense to a lot of people but try to live with grandparents who often try and force you to eat food simply because it is there and will go bad otherwise. At least in their minds it will end up going bad within days of buying it. All that aside, smoothies have been my go to drink of choice the last few hot days! With the kick off of summer I decided to give you guys a look into the smoothies that my family, friends and I love drinking. If you would like to see more of these than let me know and I'll do some experimenting and try to figure out a more accurate recipe for you!
Having said that the following "recipe" is a very rough outline, as I don't measure when I am making anything. I don't know how much the serving is, so I am really sorry. Honestly, play it by ear and adjust it accordingly! :)
Sunrise Smoothie
1 cup frozen yogurt (I go with vanilla but you can change it up!)
1-3 servings of coconut greek yogurt (I am a huge fan of the Danone Oikos one myself)
1 cup fresh/frozen/canned peaches
1 cup fresh/frozen/canned pineapple
1 1/2 cups raspberry lemonade (or any other base liquid you might like instead)
Basically all you have to do it put it all in there and mix it up! I personally like to start with the two yogurts since they usually give you an idea of how much drink you are going to make. Though I know that using fresh fruit is a lot better than using frozen or canned fruit so I usually mix it up. I'll use fresh pineapple and frozen peaches, so that I don't have to add any kind of ice to the mixture but it still comes out cold. It is like skipping a step but getting the best of both worlds all the same! As for the base liquid, I love the taste of "pink lemonade" and I use it at every chance that I can get. However, I have also tried this with regular lemonade and with an orange citrus drink (I'm not sure what it was but it was carbonated and not regular orange juice), both of which turned out quite well but had a bit more kick to the flavour.
Honestly, I think the important thing is that it fills you up but gives you some of your daily servings of fruit and makes it a bit easier to go without snacking. If you wanted to get a healthier drink out of this I would also recommend skipping the frozen yogurt and just using plain greek yogurt along with the coconut so that it isn't as high in bad sugars or fats.
That is for for today everyone, I will see you again tomorrow with another 30 Day Snap and a proper blog post on Thursday!
Cheers! x
